Great Apps for Younger Kids
Are your kids ready for summer? Hopefully it means a lot of time outdoors playing in the sunshine and splashing around in the sprinkler. During their down time I have some great apps to recommend that will keep them entertained and on track with summer learning. Here are my 10 favorite summer apps for younger kids.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted for Unit Study Fridays and I’m excited to get back into it! Each week I get together with some great bloggers to bring unit study materials and resources based on the week’s theme. This week our theme is Summer and I’m super excited to share my favorite summer apps with you! Don’t forget to scroll down after this post for more summer unit study resources.
The apps I’m linking below are all available in the Amazon store for Kindle but we’ve also downloaded several from the app store to our Ipad.
My kids love Monkey Preschool apps! Monkey Preschool Explorers is a great mix of adventure and learning. Kids explore the jungle with Monkey and his friends while learning about letters, numbers, colors, shapes and more! Collect cool hats with unique features while driving your rover through jumps, clouds and races.
Peppa Pig: Seasons – Autumn and Winter
My preschool aged daughter loves Peppa Pig! This is a cute app for kids who are learning about the changes in seasons from autumn to winter. They love to build and decorate a snowman, throwing snowballs and of course jumping in muddy puddles.
Build a world from blocks with Toca and friends. Each builder has unique skills to help your child build whatever their imagination thinks up! This is a great app for kids who aren’t ready for Minecraft but want to build like their older siblings or friends.
Stack the States is a great app for learning geography. Kids read trivia questions and choose one of four possible answers. If they’re right they get a state to stack. Stack the states just right to keep them from falling and they’ll earn a state for their map.
Another great line of apps for kids are the Dr. Panda Games. My kids loves them all but Dr. Panda & Toto’s Treehouse, Dr. Panda Swimming Pool, and Dr. Panda Racers top their list of favorites.
Minecraft Pocket Edition brings the game of Minecraft to your child’s tablet. This game is just like the PC and game console versions but now kids can take Minecraft along wherever they go! Build, explore, care for pets and meet up with friends in different worlds.
Crossy Road is a game of strategy where animals are crossing a busy road and need to dodge cars. I know, it doesn’t sound like a good app for younger kids. Check it out for yourself; there’s even a Disney version.
