DIY Pink Glitter Slime Recipe

My kids love when I make slime at home and now that I’ve found a recipe that works every time, we’re having more fun than ever! Today we made pink glitter slime to play with for Valentine’s Day but you can use this recipe any time of year.

Making slime at home is a great sensory activity for kids of all ages. Preschoolers enjoy using their scissor skills to cut slime while older kids just like squishing it around in their hands. Be sure to keep the slime away from clothes and other fabric surfaces because it’s not easy to remove! My kids usually sit at the table and play with the slime cutting and squishing away.

Making Slime at Home

I’ve tried a couple different slime recipes found on Pinterest and felt like I must be doing something wrong. Sometimes they’d turn out awesome, other times we were left with a sticky mess. After a little research I came up with a slime recipe that seems to work well each time we make it at home.

Ingredients

1/2 cup liquid starch

4 oz. white glue

2 tsp. corn starch

  1. Using the ingredients above, squeeze 8 oz. of white glue into a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of pink craft paint and 1 tablespoon of red glitter.
  2. Add 1/2 cup liquid starch. Immediately start squishing the ingredients together with your hands to mix. Add 2 tsp. corn starch and continue mixing for a few minutes.
  3. Drain the excess liquid and let the slime sit for about five minutes. Then squish and fold the slime over on itself until it reaches the desired consistency.

Too sticky? Add a little more liquid starch.

I usually put the slime in a ziploc bag in the refrigerator until my kids are ready to play with it. This makes the slime cool to the touch and adds to their sensory play.

  1. The list of ingredients says 4oz of white glue but in the recipe it says 8 oz. Im trying this for a classroom and not sure which to use. Have you ever tried glitter glue? Thank you!

    1. Sorry about that! We use one standard sized glue bottle which usually comes as 4oz. Glitter glue works well too. We’ve been using this recently and adding contact solution instead of the liquid starch. If you’re using paint in the recipe is may dull the effect of the glitter glue so either add extra glitter or make the slime the color of the glue and skip adding paint. Hope this info helps!
