DIY Gift for Grandparents made by Kids
Handmade gifts make the best gifts don’t you think? Especially when they’re from grandchildren. My parents live far away and we can’t always be with them over the holidays. This year we did something special and all my kids helped to make this cute photo holder for their grandparents. I’m sure you’ve seen these on Pinterest and even sold in stores but my goal with this gift was to keep it simple. I had blue paint so we used blue paint. My tween daughter wrote the words and I used my HP Sprocket (highly recommend!) to print the photos instantly.
I have so many photos on my phone of the kids so we were able to make this craft in one day without going out for a special photoshoot. Before it’s sent off to another state for Christmas we may do some special family photos. School pictures would work great too!
Supplies
Blue paint
White Paint
How to make a DIY Photo Holder
- Paint the piece of wood blue. We painted the front and sides but left the back unpainted Let dry.
- Paint the clothespins white. Let dry.
- Use a pencil to write I Love You on the center of the piece of wood. Trace the pencil with white paint.
- Glue the clothespins to the wood with the clip opening hanging slightly off of the wood. Let dry.
- Clip photos of the grandchildren to the clothespins.
My youngest kids enjoyed painting the clothespins while my older kids helped with the bigger tasks. We’ll be wrapping it up and sending it to the grandparents after Thanksgiving!

So sweet! Thanks for participating in the series!
My kids grandparents live overseas so they would legally appreciate something like this.
I love the simplicity of this craft. Looks so pretty with the white on blue.
